Dental Implants Scottsdale

Dental implants are surgically replaced tooth roots that serve as the anchor or foundation for the attachment of crowns and dentures. They are the superior method for structurally supporting the new prosthetics as they are strong and anchored into the bone, protecting both the new teeth and the bone itself. Use of implants can provide your dentist an optimal method for replacing damaged or lost teeth to help restore your natural and beautiful smile.

Like all procedures we perform, each patient will have a unique set of oral health circumstances, and your dentist may opt for a variety of treatment options available for your specific dental needs, and implants may not be for everyone due to specific tooth, gum, or bone conditions. Your dentist will be happy to evaluate your case to determine the applicability for dental implants, and will discuss other options with you to create a custom and personalized treatment plan that meets your specific needs, desires, insurances, and budget.

To evaluate the applicability of implants in each specific case, our dentists will perform an oral examination of your teeth, gums, and jaw structures, and may take X-rays, CT scans, or both to determine the viability of dental implants.

Dental Implants do require a series of appointments to complete, typically taking 3-9 months for completion of the entire process. Surgery is required to place the implant into the jawbone. Occasionally, dentists connect multiple implants together with a support bar to create a secure and stable anchor for a full denture. It may take 5-7 months for your bone to fuse with the implant(s), after which the connections to the implants are installed, which hold either a crown or dentures. Impressions are taken to aid in creating your replacement teeth or dentures, matching your new teeth to the appearance of your natural teeth. Your crown or denture can then be secured and adjusted for ideal fit.

With good oral care your dental implants, crowns, and dentures can last a lifetime, and we are happy to help create a maintenance program that fits your specific needs.
